We are a team of operators advancing the funding landscape for women and founders of color, grounded in our Managing Partner Promise Phelon’s 20 years as a founder and exec in Silicon Valley.
As we continue deploying, we are seeking an experienced VC investor to head up our deal team. This role is suited to operators-turned-VC, or folks who come with venture experience who also enjoy building.
This is a senior position, for investors who have experience at the Principal level and are looking for an opportunity to become Partner, and a long-term member of the Growth Warrior team.
Key functions:
- Senior deal lead: run deals from top of funnel to disco, diligence, and close
- Build and lead the deal team - come with experience managing direct reports
- Guide founder/company assessment and internal rubrics; write GWC investment memos, and socialize to relevant co-investors
- Align with the GP’s vision and get to know how she views deals; run research above and beyond “standard” disco
- Roll up your sleeves in getting to know founders and companies that come our way, and be instrumental in bringing founders to GWC that haven’t heard of us yet
- Partner with LPs and preferred VCs to navigate co-invest opportunities
- Manage our deal CRM and reporting (internal and for LPs)
- Help build our Venture Partner model (esp. scouts)
- Build fellows program; hire interns
- Have a strong voice in our thought leadership
- Establish our presence in Austin and around Texas as a fund that founders and investors want to work with
What we’re looking for:
- Experience in tech and/or VC
- Proven ability to add value to portfolio at all stages of growth
- Thesis development; strong quant and qual research skills
